My lawyer wants me to see his injury doctor. Is that normal?

12.03.09

Yes it is quite normal for your lawyer to send you to a doctor and in some cases to a psychologist, occupational therapist or other health care provider to get an opinion on your injuries or disabilities. The opinion would be in the form of a medical/legal report that can be used in court.

The report would be filed or the doctor would be called to court to testify.

These reports are used to support the opinions of your treating doctors and to attack the positions of the insurance company doctors.

In a personal injury action it would be astonishing if your lawyer did not send you to a doctor so that a medical/legal report could be prepared for your case.
