I know all too well what it means to be sued. I had no insurance and got into an accident. The other party was injured and I was sued. I was never notified that i would be taken to court and was subsequently sued for $275,000.00 This now will haunt me for the rest of my life. I pay every week 20% of my pay and that only covers the intrest. We live in Canada when is it enough money. I regret ever driving without insurance but i now am being evicted from my home for not being able to keep up the payments. This enconomy isn't helping.
I was a atationary vehicle when a transport truck crossed into my lane and totalled my car when making a wide right turn. He was exiting the parking lot from the "entrance" lane! I do not have a lawyer now, but I did. The parties in the tort action offered me $7,500.00 because they sat I was at fault! This was my insurance companies decision, which I am fighting! Help. I was railroaded, by everyone, and need help so very badly. Not sure I can go on much longer.

I was in a car accident and settled the case through my lawyer. My lawyer wrote me saying my check was in route and I would have to come in and sign off when they recieve the check. That was a month ago. I keep calling to ask when I can come in but they will not return my call. How do I make my lawyer pay me the balance?

I was involved in an MVA and as a result was unable to return to work. My company decided to terminate my employement (Massive terminations/layoffs) and as a result I went on EI. I was not being paid by the insurance company at this point. I was approved for 40 weeks of EI benifits. Once my EI benifits expired my insurance company sent me a lumpsum check for income replacement benifits that was past due (360/week). Today I received word from EI that my former employer has decided to award me an additional 6000 for the time spent in the company (As severence pay). After discussing the situation with the EI support line I understand that most likely all that 6000 will go to EI and my EI benifits would be extended for 12 weeks. I am currently being paid by my insurance company 400/week, do I qualify for those 12 weeks of EI and should I repay EI any of that lumpsum that I received from my insurance company? I want to make sure I am not breaking any laws but don't want to pay what I don't have to.
